Barclays Spaces for Sports

photo : two boysBarclays Spaces for Sports was established in 2004 and is a three-year £30M community sponsorship programme funded by Barclays to create or improve sports facilities in UK communities.

Barclays Spaces for Sports is a partnership between Barclays, the Football Foundation and Groundwork.

Up to 165 sites over three years will be created. These will include multi use games areas offering basketball, football, netball, tennis through to skateboard and BMX tracks. Every site will be eligible to apply for a development fund to help them provide coaching opportunities and sports equipment to help the community get the most out of the new facilities and support their long-term management.

Twenty-one flagship sites will be delivered over the three years of the programme, and these will be the programme’s largest sports based regeneration projects. Each site will be linked to a Barclays Premiership club.

1,200 coaching kits and equipment packs will be distributed each year to teams and groups in the most need across the UK.
