Barclays SiteSavers was the largest environmental regeneration sponsorship of its kind in the UK.

To receive a Barclays SiteSavers award, a project was required to show that it had the active backing of the local community. This was not only important to the long term success of the project, but also helped to stimulate a renewed sense of community spirit and ownership by those taking part.

Barclays staff also volunteered their help at more than 90% of sites, working side-by-side with other members of the community. Local authorities have also been actively involved, offering specialist advice, equipment and additional funding.

The Barclays SiteSavers programme operated across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the following projects are a sample of the many that took place between 1996 and 2005.
